FAQ

The Typical Day

Mornings start by gathering in the Quincho for a hearty Chilean breakfast before gearing up and heading out.  Depending on snow levels, we will either ride directly from Base Camp or trailer the sleds a very short distance to one of our trailheads.  After completing an equipment check and safety briefing, it is time to ride!  Your guide will match the day's plan to your type of riding style.  After a few hours, you'll enjoy a hot lunch out on the trail before you take on more of the Andean terrain.  At the end of the day, take a soak in the wood-fired hot tub while sipping on a Pisco Sour, a Chilean wine, or something else to your liking from the bar.  And, while you have been out riding, our Base Camp team has been busy tending to the fire in your cabin to keep it warm upon your return and preparing a delicious authentic Chilean dinner.

How to Get Here

SledChile is located between the town of Malalcahuello and Corralco Ski Resort.  International guests all arrive, first, in Santiago.  From Santiago, they can either drive just over 8 hours or take an additional one-hour flight to Temuco (ZCO) and about two hours to SledChile.

Planning Your Flights

If connecting in Santiago to and from Temuco, guests should allow a 3-hour layover to avoid missing connections.  Latam offers several daily flights to Temuco.  Often, guests find better prices when booking the segments between Santiago and Temuco on a separate itinerary from their international flights.

Rental Car Information

Several internationally known rental car companies are located in both Santiago and Temuco.  Although roads are paved to SledChile, four-wheel drive vehicles are recommended due to snow.  Don't forget to purchase the insurance just in case.  Also, before you leave the airport in your rental car, be sure to have some Chilean money on hand to pay highway tolls.

Getting Ready

First.....is your passport current for at least 30 days beyond your trip dates?  If not, get started renewing it now.  Packing for a winter adventure during summer in the Northern Hemisphere takes some extra thought.  After all, you are out of practice!  Take the time to plan it out and keep items that are difficult to replace in your carry-on.  While SledChile does carry an extensive line of Klim gear, if you have irregular-sized boots or helmet, we might not have your exact size.  Keep those items close if you can.  Bring all of your riding gear including helmet, goggles, balaclava, jacket, gloves, pants, and boots.  Make sure you bring your avalanche gear (transceiver, probe, shovel, avy bag, and two-way radio).  Also, bring some sunscreen as the UV intensity of the sun is stronger in the South American Andes than up north.
